First 2004 US presidential debate - speex format
I converted the 93 MiB mp3 to this 11 MiB speex version of the first 2004 US presidential debate. Maybe somebody wants to put it on a more decent server?I finally moved the file to a bigger pipe. Thanks to boingboing for the heads up. [update 20h31] Mark wanted to know more about speex and I obliged.




Thanks Robin, but what’s a Speex file, and what player do we use to play it?

What’s a Speex file?
Prompted by Mark’s question, Speex is a codec from the vorbis family. It’s designed specifically for voice/speech and thus generally gives a smaller file size than an mp3 or ogg vorbis file. I use ogg123 on gnu/linux; for ms windows I was using fooba…

Just wanted to thank you for the conversion. 11MB vs 93MB is a huge difference for those of us still afflicted with a 56k.
