So I’m back from the FACIL election and quite happy to report it went extremely well. Lila Roussel and I were both elected to the board, along with 5 other people, with two from that last board.

FACIL was founded one year ago, with the goal of promoting the Collective Appropriation of Free Software in Québec, Canada. The non-profit association participated in the first provincial Free Software Week as well as making a few appearances to conferences, on television and in newspapers.

This year we’re discussing the possibility of making a bi-monthly newsletter for our members, integrate members of other related associations into comittees and generally “show the way” with our enthusiasm and perseverance. We also feel it’s very important to get our mission accross better, leading to a better legitimacy from our peers.

After the general assembly, the board and a few other members spent part of the afternoon discussing those issues and a few more. The president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer roles were assigned respectively to Robin Millette, Sylvain Carle, Nicolas Marchildon and Marc Tardif. Valérie Dagrain, Lila Roussel and Yannick Delbecque complete the board.
