Maxime Dupuis:

According to what M. Robin Milette wrote, I believe that he is not using FireFox 2 beta 1 because he just want to have a single codebase. Me I use Ubuntu GNU/Linux and I don't like to install any programs that are not officially supported by the community. Maybe it's like in ruby on rails, KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid!).

max, because it's "good enough"? I never had a problem with it I couldn't fix in a couple hours. I really really appreciate that in Debian. Once you've setup a program and it works, you can forget about it for two years or so. Less worries, more berries ;)

Why stick with 1.0.4 when there's that beta 1 of Firefox 2 out there? I'm running it and I must say, it's a lot more stable than 1.5.0.7 (in my case). Just grab the archive and use it.

Bosko, I tried the first Google Reader when it launched - I wasn't impressed but then learned that it was developped on top of a rich API and the Reader seemed like a quick demo. I was using News Alloy for a while, but like every other aggregator, I stopped using it after a month or so. I still check its blog and it mentionned a new Google Reader which I haven't bothered to check out yet.

You might be interested in News Alloy, it's got all sorts of features, including mobile support.

I've only noticed gmail has gotten slower lately; though I'm running 1.5.0.7 (latest). I haven't attempted to quantify the slowdown, but it certainly feels a lot less responsive.

On the other hand, I've been told that the new Google Reader is quite impressive. One of these days I suppose I'll try it out (I like the idea of being able to view my feeds from my smartphone, but dislike that i'll probably have to sacrifice the ability to read feeds offline if I make the switch).
