Identica, me voilà

C’est un secret de Polichinelle - un secret qu’on dit à tout le monde de ne pas répéter - j’ai commencé aujourd’hui mon nouvel emploi pour Contrôlez-vous, la compagnie d’Evan Prodromou responsable d’Identica et de Laconica. C’est un travail à temps plein, mon premier depuis près de huit ans durant lesquels j’ai fais de la consultation, quelques sites web, et beaucoup de bénévolat.

laconi.ca microblogging platform, now with tags and multilingual

Laconica, the free software powering identi.ca and related microblogging sites just got a few new features tonight. Users can now choose the language of the interface, between English, English (NZ), English (US) and French (FR). While this doesn’t seem like a lot of choice, Evan expects the community to quickly create the needed translation for as many languages as possible. Klingon and Esperanto included :)

Tracking, the killer feature. Now Identi.ca has it too!

Wasn’t it the feature that killed twitter? Or maybe you’re wondering what it is. I’m only mentionning it since the laconi.ca federation is now supporting that feature, thanks to Dustin (oh, Dustin’s homepage is pretty cool too).

So you’re using twitter (or plurk, brightkite, pownce, maybe even identi.ca or one of its siblings) and you like it realtime, so of course you’re using SMS or Instant Messaging (Jabber, AIM, whatever). You’ve got your friends, your subscriptions. Wouldn’t it be nice to follow words too? And I don’t mean hashtags (words preceded with “#” to mark them of separately). I mean anything. Interested in what/when people get up or go to bed? Track “morning” and “night”, and watch the flow.
